Introducing: Obscura

A celebration of summer and a showcase of the homegrown talent that our trailblazing Naarm scene has blossomed.
Obscura takes inspiration from the venue in which it takes place: the Yarra Hotel. This 170 year old pub, established in 1855, is a mix of old school front bar and light filled beer garden. The rear hosts a garden, walled off by timber window frames that were transplanted from a mid-century modern home.
The light that leaks through these windows into the venue sparked the idea of a camera obscura, which is a natural phenomenon where light passes through a pinhole into a dark room, projecting the outside world into the room, flipped horizontally and inverted.
Join us on the 19th of January as our lineup of exceptional local talent soundtrack the progression of the sun throughout the day into the night.
